Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

This document is a policy template for Hono's Stage 0 launch. It is complete and intended for production use, but should be reviewed by counsel before Hono handles data for real publisher accounts.

1. Who we are

Hono ("Hono," "we," "us") operates hono.com and the Hono publisher console, a software platform that helps website and app publishers ("Publishers") package and sell advertising inventory. This policy explains what data we collect from Publishers and their authorized users, how we use it, and how Publishers can control it.

2. What we collect

  • Account information. Name, email address, and organization details you provide when creating a Hono account.
  • OAuth tokens and connection metadata. When you connect Google Ad Manager, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), or Ezoic, we store OAuth access and refresh tokens and the identifiers needed to make authorized API calls on your behalf. We request only the scopes required to read reporting data and, where you configure it, to create line items and deals in your ad server.
  • Aggregated analytics and revenue data. Traffic (pageviews, sessions, users), impressions, and revenue figures pulled from GA4, Google Ad Manager, and Ezoic on your behalf, used to build your media kit and set negotiation floors.
  • Deal and negotiation records. Proposals, counteroffers, and approvals generated by the negotiation agent, including the buyer-side agent's identifying information and offer terms.
  • Usage data. Log data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically when you use the Hono console.

3. How we use this data

  • To authenticate you and maintain your session.
  • To generate and keep your media kit current with traffic and yield metrics.
  • To calculate pricing floors and guardrails your negotiation agent operates within.
  • To negotiate and, upon your approval, book advertising deals into your connected ad server.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To maintain the security and reliability of the platform.

4. Google API Services User Data — Limited Use disclosure

Hono's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only use Google user data (from Google Ad Manager and GA4) to provide and improve the publisher-facing features described in this policy — reporting, media kit generation, floor calculation, and deal booking.
  • We do not sell Google user data.
  • We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements, and we do not transfer it except as necessary to provide the features you've enabled, to comply with law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with continued protection under this policy).
  • We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless: we have your affirmative consent for a specific support issue, it's necessary for security purposes, it's needed to comply with law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymized.

5. No sale of data

Hono does not sell Publisher data, analytics data, or OAuth-derived data to third parties. Aggregated, anonymized data (for example, industry benchmarks) may be used internally to improve the product, but never in a form that identifies you or your business.

6. Data sharing

We share data only with:

  • Buyer-side agents and demand partners, limited to the media kit fields and deal terms you choose to expose during negotiation.
  • Infrastructure subprocessors (cloud hosting, database, and monitoring providers) bound by contract to protect your data and use it only to provide services to Hono.
  • Authorities, where required by law.

7. Data retention and deletion

We retain account, connection, and analytics data for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period afterward for legal and operational purposes. You can disconnect a Google Ad Manager, GA4, or Ezoic integration at any time from your Hono settings, which revokes and deletes the associated OAuth tokens.

To request deletion of your account or data, contact privacy@hono.com. We will confirm deletion within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Security

OAuth tokens and account data are encrypted at rest and in transit. Access to production data is limited to personnel who need it to operate the platform.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Hono's features evolve. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
